In the beginning... 1long before Youtube, before viral videos ruled the land, there existed a group of extraordinary young me- boys...

Bored with the concept of simply going to school and doing their work, they started a simple but fun way to get the most out of the enormous amount of free time they had.

Rather then fill the gap with “jobs”, they chose to live life barely above the poverty line and document their stories and adventures using a video camera, computers and sheer determination... oh and a crippling addiction to alcohol.

Below, you will find the all time favorites from their 5 year adventure. Enjoy.
The first official Drunktanks video ever. Based on a true story, it’s the tale of a horrific accident which I’m sure we’ve all experienced at one point or another. This was shot in Peterborough, Ontario where we were attending school. At one point, some viewers actually recognized the house from the video (where we lived) and came over to talk to us. Neat.

This also dates back to the early days. The first in a series of “extreme” sports drinks. The original description reads -” Ever need 8 hours of sleep but only have 15 minutes or less? That's when you know it's time to get extreme...sleep hard extreme.” To be honest I’m not even sure where this idea came from. I know we laughed pretty hard while shooting it. We stole the music at the end from an episode of The Simpsons, and back then, that was REALLY hard.

This was one of Sam’s babies. It was part of his long running “Nobesity Campaign” in which he took it upon himself to rid the world of heart disease and obesity. Sam and myself (Craig) set off on a 140k journey from our hometown of Parry Sound, to the nearest major city, Barrie. What we thought would be a great trip about raising funds for Heart and Stroke, quickly became a strange, isolated journey we will never forget.

If you don’t know what this video was inspired by, then you are either very young or we have gotten very old. We also had the contributing factors of Jesse’s “mad fronting” skills about his car as well as his amazingly comical hair. And a toy shotgun!

This is my pick as my favorite Drunktanks video.

The third in the series (the second didn’t make the cut), This was the first video shot after we moved to Toronto. In fact, we shot it the night we moved in, which is why it may look like we shot it in an abandoned crack house. All sound fx were done by putting the microphone in the toilet and dropping in various household items, only one of which, was actual human feces.

This was an idea that had been sitting on the back burner for almost a year. I always thought this was the most hilarious song ever and to be able to put it over any kind of video would be awesome. The song is what makes this video great, to be honest you could put this song over chimpanzee’s throwing shit at each other and it would be hilarious... hmm... I should write that down

Another challenge by Sam as part of the Nobesity campaign. Sam signs up and runs the Toronto Marathon without any training or any kind of track experience. That's 42km on a cold, rainy day. I actually doubted him the entire time, so this feat of his really blew me away, He proved not only could he finish a marathon, but he could also complete a challenge that didn’t include eating an immense amount of food then puking everywhere.

Hands down the most talked about, controversial but most favored Drunktanks video of all time. Based on the Kratt Brothers and their daytime children's show “Kratt’s Creatures”. This was shot over quite a long time period (before then after Halloween) and despite what it may look like, we didn’t intend the “end result” or even realize it until we were in post production. It was the only time we actually shocked ourselves.

We had a bunch of out takes from all the videos we had shot so far so, why not put together a clip show. I wish I had a neat little tid bit of information to go along with this one but, I don’t. So instead I’m going to just ramble on about the fact that... oh wait I thought of one. The winter footage of us with W.C. Fields is from an unfinished Christmas special we tried to produce... it flopped.

Our obsession with the “hard cut” joke really reached it’s peak in this video. The song was recorded about 4000 times in Sam’s room, fumbling over words and slowly reaching the edge of insanity. I was so scared I was actually going to drink the antifreeze at the end (it’s real) and also the mouthwash. I was also scared of the banana peels.... yep... I'm a little bitch.

Not much I can say about this video... WOOORD UP! Tupac rules! THUG 4 LIFE!

One of the four videos made in season 3. We moved down the street and I guess it really sucked the soul out of us. Oh no wait, that was the horrible poverty and scrambling to get jobs and lives... and the houseflies out of our faces while WE TRIED TO EAT!
